Learning outcome 1 (Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth):

During the time of brining this activity to life, I had realized my strengths and weaknesses. I could not react in a hurry, as I could not face many people at ones. Over time, as the experience began, and people started to come, I was able to improve and fight my way through the anxiety. Because of this I developed more confidence as I was succeeding in the interactions.

I used this as an opportunity in order to successfully boost my moral and confidence, so I don’t ever feel anxious before volunteering.

Learning outcome 2 (Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process):

This experience was a personal challenge to me as I was exhausted from other activities, and my social battery which had a low capacity had run out. Because of doing volunteering I was adjusting to the environment. I had to research about what the staff members would want me to do beforehand, so I was not clueless at the time of the event. I also had to learn a few basic Gujarati words, to communicate with some members as they were fluent Gujarati speakers and did not know any other way of communication.

Learning outcome 3 (Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience):

I had to research the needs and requirements for this activity to take place before hand. I was meant to be an instructor, instruct staff members and teaching them how to play a certain game. For that, I had to first learn how the game works, in order to help them. I also had to learn few basic words from a new language, to communicate with some people who could not speak in the languages I was familiar with.

Learning outcome 4 (Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences):

This activity took many days of planning and organising, from gathering all the required resources and learning all the necessary games. I was forced to get out of my comfort zone and communicate with strangers. i had to stay principled throughout this experience, since this experience required a lot of time and effort, I had to create a timetable which would help me organize my schoolwork and be able to finish this activity.  I also chose this activity as it a great way to learn more about giving back to the community, and being a volunteer is such a great initiative to learn about kindness.

I enjoyed this activity as I enjoy watching people smile. I love sharing kindness and the best way to do this is by helping others. This activity taught me how to stay principled and how to continue being kind, I also gained confidence and improved my moral grounds.
