Cooking

Cooking is a skill that is always recommended to be learned. It becomes very important for students like me to learn cooking at an early stage of life because when we are out of home there may be many instances when we might need it for survival. I learned to make 3 basic delicacies Humus, Pasta, and Salad. The LO’s covered in this CAS experience are LO1, LO2.

I am a big-time foodie and cooking is something I wanted to learn but didn’t try to learn this experience made me do it and it will also help me in the future. While learning how to cook, I sometimes became very impatient and impatience is not recommended in cooking. Cooking requires patience, for eg to let the vegetable saute well and etc. While learning to cook food, side by side I also learned the importance of patience in our daily life. This covers LO1 which is “identify own strength and develop areas of growth”.

Cooking was a very difficult task for me, in the beginning, was pretty confident that I would be able to do it easily but it was really tough because from operating the stove and keeping it to the perfect burner speed to cooking it. Every step was very interesting and difficult. I had a couple of bad experiences when I burnt my finger by touching it to a hot vessel and etc.. but still, it was a great learning outcome that will help me for sure. This covers LO2 which is “Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process”.

There are many things I learned in this CAS experience but one of the most important things was patience and presence of mind because i wrong step could lead to something very unusual. It was a difficult but great journey.
