In today’s world everything is being digitized from movie theaters to ordering in restaurants to playing sports. With everything becoming increasingly connected there arises a problem of data privacy and security. An individual must keep his/her sensitive data safe and private in order to not have it leaked on the internet, social media etc. where people can view the sensitive data. Therefore, I was personally motivated to create videos on cybersecurity in order to raise awareness.

I created 7 videos pertaining to cybersecurity and netiquettes. I discussed various cyberthreats on the internet and various measures to prevent them. Moreover, I also created videos on how to communicate via the internet respectfully and effectively since it is vital for an individual to maintain a good online presence.

I demonstrated learning outcome 2 since in order to create videos which I will upload on the internet, I needed to research and download various tools in order to create good videos that are interesting rather than mundane and repetitive. Moreover, for using the tools I had to learn various functions of the buttons used in the programme and how those functions change how the video looks. In addition, I also learned to customize a youtube channel and how to upload videos on them and write the title, description, tags etc.

I catered to learning outcome 4 since I had to research a lot in order to understand how various cyber threats work, how they infiltrate into the digital devices, how to take preventive measures against the cyber threats etc. Moreover, while creating the videos I had to choose a lot of objects in the video and organize a layout that the audience will find interesting. Moreover, I had to review each part of the video in order to ensure that the timings of the video are long enough to ensure that the audience can read the entire text.

I showcased learning outcome 6 by addressing various global issues arising due to increased interconnectedness of devices which leaves people’s sensitive information vulnerable to cybercriminals. This data can be used for withdrawing money from the individual’s bank, selling data to commercial websites about spending habits, blackmailing the individual data in exchange for money, conducting cyber bullying etc. SInce these problems are extremely widespread it is critical to create awareness videos that help people understand the risk of not securing sensitive information and how with simple steps that can significantly increase their cybersecurity and privacy. Moreover, the netiquettes videos will inform the audience on how to behave respectfully online since their social media posts can be seen worldwide and the future generations.

In this experience I showcased a learner profile knowledgeable since I increased my knowledge on the various cybersecurity threats worldwide and the steps taken to prevent and secure sensitive data from cybercriminals. 

Overall, I would call this experience a success since I got many views while uploading the videos indicating that these videos have created a difference. Moreover, I built video editing skills and boosted my research skills which are both helpful later in life.
