CAS Reflection _ Drawing (Creativity)

Drawing is an important skill in an individual’s repertoire since there are many real life scenarios in which drawing can come in hand. I chose to improve my drawing skills for the purpose of allowing myself to better visualize various scenarios on paper in order to solve a complicated problem or illustrate an instance encountered in the past.I have categorized this endeavor in the creativity component for my CAS.

I created a few goals that will help me improve my drawing skills. I have decided to draw 30 drawings out of which 10 drawings on the easy level, 10 that are difficult to some extent and the 10 are extremely difficult according to the criteria of the complexity of shapes and size of the drawing.

The 10 easy level drawings were completed very quickly and very nicely. The approximate time taken to complete 1 easy drawing ranged from 3 minutes to 7 minutes.

The 10 medium level drawings were completed however they consumed a considerable amount of time ranging from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.

The 10 hard level drawings were extremely difficult in both the complexity and the amount of patience required to complete the drawing while maintaining the original proportions and shape. The approximate time for each drawing ranged from 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

I catered to learning outcome 1 since I was able to identify my strength in drawing simple and complex 2d structures and shading to some extent. However, I was also able to identify my weakness being that I could not cater to 3d visualization of the drawing since it involves drawing the whole figure with a distinct skew and proportionality which proved to be difficult for me.

I catered to learning outcome 2 since drawing is very time consuming and required a lot of concentration which proved to be challenging. Moreover, during erasing of my pencil strokes the paper became a little smudged which would ruin the drawing to some extent. Moreover, for extended periods of drawing practice, my hand would get dirty due to the fragments left by the pencil strokes which would create dark smudges on the paper.

I catered to Learning outcome 4 since drawing tested every ounce of patience and commitment I had since making a mistake like smudging a particular part of the drawing or accidentally erasing parts other than the intended part puts all the effort in vain and repeating the whole process again consumed a lot of time.

The learner profile I built through this experience is knowledgeable. I learnt a lot about different types of shading, various drawing styles, 2d & 3d drawing etc. This helped me increase my knowledge in the field of drawing which I can put into work while visualizing various scenarios on paper in order to convey the intended message to my target audience.

Overall, I would consider my experience a success and I learnt a lot and had enormous amounts of fun while performing my drawing activities. I am content with my overall progress and achievements I have catered to in the field of drawing.
