I was in the core committee for freshers party. Me and my friends helped the school organize freshers party for grade 11. The new student were not aware of IB and Fountainhead culture. As I have been in FS for many years. I was head for the freshers committee. I had to organize 2 event. A flash mop and treasure hunt for the opening day. A event with planned games, activities, gifts and disco. There were many jobs to fill. I had to be responsible and try my best to give warm welcome to all my juniors.

 LO 1- Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

I am good in communication and leadership skills. I acted as bridge between the teachers and my team members, to share the expectation,budget and the timeline for the event. I used my communication skill to become a host for the event. I developed friendships with the new students and communicated my experiences and basics of IB.

LO 3 –  Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

I always wanted to do something special for my juniors. I initiated and proposed the plan to the teachers. Freshers’ party required a lot of planning. Planing games, practicing dance. As a team, we gave our ideas and opinions. We decided upon different games. We planned a treasure hunt with 10-12 venues and hints. It required a lot times and efforts.as we made sure it’s challenging.

LO 2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

We had not given any extra time for the freshers party. We had to manage our timetable, use our free slots, come early and meet during the weekends to do the dance practice. It was really a big challenge for me to manage my other classes and deadline with the freshers party.

LO 5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

We were a team of 8-9 students. Working together helped us to divide the work equally and made us efficient. Communication skills were at use as everyday we had to share the status of work and push other members to finish their work.

I learned and practice dance, every week. I learned different steps and dances during the event. I also praticed a lot. The event was a gesture by us, We served our time and put in efforts to organize a great freshers party.

It was really fun and went as we expected. It was proud moment to lead the event and really enjoyed it.
