Coordinator of Swapper-stop event held by Fountainhead school, Surat

This year’s Swappers Stop event was organised by students of fountainhead school in Grade 12. The event’s main objective was to gather items from students, which would then be sold at discounted coupons which would be given to them as per the items they have submitted to the coordinators of the event.  My time as a student was superb and incredibly enjoyable. All of us students were able to evaluate the lessons we had learned during the year thanks to this event.

I worked as an item collector coordinator, gathering stuff from children in various grades and from various teachers while also giving them coupons to use toward the purchase of other items. We all made it our mission to sell as many things as we possibly could in these few hours. We were ecstatic and amused with the number of products we sold when the event was over. Since it takes a lot of work for our teachers to recognize individuals like us, it was even greater when they complimented our abilities.

Learning Outcomes:

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Our expertise was being put to the test in a real-world scenario because we had already learned how businesses operate through our thick business management book and our dedicated teachers. This also meant that we would discover our strengths and limitations. I am probably the most energetic person you could meet, thus one of my skills was being able to speak extremely well with the clients that were coming to our stalls. My ability to communicate with others, including strangers, is one of my best-known and most frequently used abilities. However, I think that being easily sidetracked is one of my shortcomings.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

It was decided to take on challenges in order to learn new talents. We were performing in a real-world environment, as I had indicated. Collaboration and critical thinking were among the new abilities I acquired.  The new skill that many of us were learning even if there were certain controlled variables, such as the fact that the only clients were faculty and/or students from the institution.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Due to the stringent requirements and restrictions associated with the sustainability concept, such as resource usage, it was quite tough to commit to this event, but the entire crew persevered and created the finest décor they could. Additionally, it is never simple to communicate with such a large team because one must respect everyone’s viewpoints and make a choice. Although it took longer than we expected, we all stayed until the very end and put on a spectacular evening. Another challenge was that we had far less time than we had requested to make our decorations. As a result, the decorations underwent stress and end-time adjustments.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working with a large team is never simple for anyone, but there are advantages because each team member has a different perspective and a variety of skills, which led to the generation of creative and innovative ideas. Together, we planned the appropriate decorations and successfully carried them out in keeping with the sustainable thrift store theme.

LO6: Global engagement

The main aim of the gathering was to ensure that global issues were addressed. This addressed the issue of reducing, reusing, and recycling because every item that was placed up for sale was a thrift store find.
