I have always loved to discuss fashion with my friend who is also passionate about the topic and we talked about implementing our knowledge and sharing it with others. CAS presented an opportunity for me to reconnect with fashion as earlier, I had to keep this interest of mine aside to prioritize studying. I chose to do it with my friend, who is just as active and wants to be a fashion designer. We both discussed haute couture, the creative direction of certain brands, the inspiration behind collections and looks, and basically any information we can find that was relevant. We together set up an Instagram account named “Fluent in Fashion” where we continue to upload posts and reels including self-curated lookbooks, fashion analyses of certain designers’ and celebrities’ outfits, and everything that could be connected with fashion. We gained a few followers that are like-minded and interested in fashion. It gives me a sense of satisfaction that our audience is enjoying the content that we are curating.
LO 1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth: My friend knows more about the technicalities of fashion and clothes, which made me curious to know more about and it also helped us to analyze from a professional viewpoint. Now that I’m retrospective of the experience, I know more about the fashion than I did earlier, thanks to my friend sharing her knowledge with me.
LO 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience: We needed to make time for this project and sometimes planned ahead so we didn’t waste time as this is a long-term experience, sometimes we had to cancel as tests were announced, but we managed around with what free time we had.
LO 4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences: I’m a fairly organized person, so we set up google meet invites to discuss what we are planning to do next and ongoing projects during our exams, time management was a bit difficult, however, we could’ve managed our time efficiently by planning ahead. We also made a document where we mention all our findings and analysis material.
LO 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: Working with others is usually easy for me to do, and doing this with one of my close friends was uncomplicated compared to had it been someone I was not close with, as we communicated our ideas clearly, compromised, and understood when things were starting to become challenging like when we had to attend classes or had previous engagements. Nevertheless, this was an overall fun experience for me as I continued to gain more knowledge about fashion and I am planning to put in more effort toward this project in the future.
LO 7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions: we were academically honest and cited all the books/magazines/websites we referred to in our posts and made a website where our page viewers could find all the resources used by us.
