Participating in MUN

(LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process; LO 5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively; LO 6:engagement with issues of global significance)

I took up a challenge and took part in MUN which was organized in our school. I was in the DISEC committee representing Libya. It was really a challenge undertaken as I didn’t have much experience in MUN and I wasn’t aware of many of the things which are done in it. I learned about the general protocols and requirements of the MUN. I researched my country’s role in the agenda set as well as the perspective of other countries to know about the agenda with more clarity. I tried my best and prepared a speech and participated in the general discussion as much as possible.

Although we had to work on our own and represent our own country, We had to work together with other delegates to prepare a resolution paper. We needed to collaborate on working papers and maintain international relations with countries aligning with my country’s foreign interests. Therefore, it was a little difficult as we had to make the decision which was best for my country and maintain good relations with each delegate, we had to equally distribute work and help to think for the solutions together on the issue of global significance.
