LO1: MUN is an educational simulation in which students can learn about politics, international relations, and the United Nations. Hence, MUN becomes a platform in order to debate about the country’s stand in order to international relations and policies made by the countries. MUN is a great platform in order to show your discipline and your debating skills and a great manner to gain experience and make debating your strength. Though debating is a great way in order to manipulate stuff and support your stance, the same has to be done with immense confidence. Though I did chair a MUN, I was constantly given feedback to be more confident, considering that I am stating facts and talking about world politics. Once the feedback was received, I was aware that where I looked weak and what is to be done in order to turn the same into my strength. Knowing the same allowed me to enhance my skills and improve myself for a better representation of myself in the future. Working on confidence was done by practicing public speaking and reframing myself in a better manner before speaking in order to speak fluently and effortlessly. Working on the same allowed me to conduct the upcoming committee sessions in an improved manner and also all the delegates were impressed.
LO2: The challenging part of the activity was the execution as I was a part of the EB for the first time in my life. It wasn’t challenging, it was just the burden of the position, or moreover, the responsibility that made it challenging for me. I have been part of multiple MUNs before as the delegate, though I chaired a MUN it was for the young minds from grades 5&6. Overcoming the challenge was done by using better-framed sentences and speaking with confidence by believing in myself. Undertaking the challenges always make you stronger than before and hence, taking this one allowed me to grow. UNdertaking new challenges is moving ahead in life with better you and with a mindset of facing new challenges in the future. Throughout the experience, I discovered a range of skills I have and how I can enhance the same. These skills were communication, critical thinking, and research skills. The same set of skills can be used in the future in many places, be it any other MUN or a place where I am presenting myself, or giving an elevator pitch to someone. Learning a new set of skills will always make you a person who can compete anywhere in the world because every job or task has a varied and unique skill set and in order to be successful, you will have to be skillful.
LO3: As MUN was the weekend-based event, I simply cleared my backlog work or the stuff over the weekend before it started, and hence, I could manage myself in order to serve my best to the experience. Being organized has always helped me and so I always prefer to be one. Initiating was difficult as I have stated before, cause planning was done a month back when the event was announced, and hence, I arranged my schedule accordingly. Enhancing was done instead of learning a new skill which was the communication skill. Knowing about planning and initiating activities allows you to be an organized person and hence it is easy to function as such. Both of the things would be easier than before as I have gained another experience of the same.
LO4: Activity had no difficulties as such when we talk about the commitment or perseverance, though it involved the clearing of your backlog activities which gets tough though. The commitment was to provide the delegates with the study material on time so that the committee’s outcome is fruitful, though the commitment to attend the event on weekend was also required. In order to commit and be persistent, is always easy for me when the outcome is leading to my growth or building up my knowledge.
LO5: Working with others is generally easy for me as being an extrovert I can communicate with other people with ease. Communication is the key to teamwork and hence it gets much easier for me to collaborate in a team. In this task, I had to work with a chairperson who was collaborative which allowed us to work as one comfortably. Working with various people is always a point where you gain experience dealing with a diverse range of people. Collaborative behavior allows you to remain flexible while interacting with others and making them feel at ease in order to work together.
LO6: Data privacy and national security were discussed in the committee to reach out to fruitful solutions by discussing world foreign policies and issues. Having such discussions is always insightful for the young brilliant minds to explore beyond their horizon and be knowledgeable about the global community. Talking about global issues allows me to stay updated with the world and in order to reach out to its solution, I can contribute to the world to be better off.
LO&: Ethical issues weren’t involved in the activity while we consider MUN as one. There are any ethical issues involved in the community I live in and they do affect me directly or indirectly in many ways. When we talk about the declaration of policies in the countries or in international politics, they affect individuals worldwide.
