Tree Plantation

I believe that climate change and global warming are the greatest threats to earth. I strongly believe that significant action needs to be taken regarding this issue. Knowing this, we were determined to make whatever impact we can on the environment. We decided to give efforts into planting trees which will have some positive impact on the environment in the far future. We also plan on continuing this activity for as long as we can.

The most challenging part of being on this tree plantation drive was working outdoors for several hours in the sun. The coastal regions of India are particularly hot even during the winter season which led to grueling work on hot mornings. It was challenging for me as it would completely drain me out and leave me with little energy to carry on with activities for the rest of the day.

The trees and plants that we planted are those which help to hold the soil together, gather nutrients for the surrounding vegetation, and provide oxygen, food, and shade for the animals. Along with this, we ensured that we kept a lot of diversity in the trees so that we did not inevitably create a dead ecosystem because every sustainable ecosystem must have varied species of vegetation to prevent conflict between plants for resources.

The 3 weeks I spent planting was exceptionally memorable because of how we put in the time and dedication and worked as a team to help us play some small but worthwhile role in slowing down the surge of climate change. It also helps me connect more with nature and with the trees I plant.
