Gym training

For my CAS experience, I started gymming in August. At first, I was doing it for aesthetics but I soon realized that strength is more important than aesthetics. I saw a major transformation between August and November and that’s the reason why I’ll keep on continuing.

LO1 : Identify your own strengths and develop areas for growth.

In my first week of gymming, I understood that most of your muscles are based on genetics. For example, I had big biceps genetically compared to other muscles and they were able to perform above average than the rest of my muscle groups. Moreover, I also realized that I had bad chest genetics and my chest muscles were weak. In order to develop areas for growth, I aimed to work on my chest 2 times a week.

LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken in developing new skills.

I never thought that at this age my diet would affect my progress but I was 100% wrong. I had long muscle soreness due to less protein consumption and sleep. I got to know that recovery is as important as workouts because I can’t work out with sore muscles. The reason was that I was not able to fulfill my protein needs at school so I started supplementing whey protein for a while and then I used melatonin gummies for sleep. After those steps, my recovery was on point and I was able to develop my strength faster than ever.

LO3:

Initiative and planning are crucial for gym training for several reasons:

  • Goal Setting: Initiating and planning your gym training program help you to set specific and achievable goals for yourself. Without goals, it’s easy to become demotivated or lose track of progress. By setting goals, you can work towards specific targets, which will motivate you and help you to stay on track.
  • Time Management: Planning your gym training sessions in advance helps you to manage your time more efficiently. You can ensure that you have enough time to complete your workout, as well as other tasks that need to be done during the day.
  • Consistency: Consistency is key when it comes to gym training. By planning your workouts and sticking to a schedule, you can ensure that you are consistently working towards your goals. This consistency will help you to see results faster and keep you motivated.

LO4 : commitment to and perseverance

Consistency is the most important part of going to the gym so I hired a trainer at gymkhana and he made me a workout plan and recovery plan. I worked out 5 days a week and on the weekends I went swimming, sauna and steam. Finding time for the gym was hard because of my assignments, so I bought a membership at a gym near my house in order to save time. When I missed some sessions due to tuition I covered it up on the weekends or the next day.

My takeaways: I think that going to the gym changed my life and it was an eye-opener for me as now I know that consistency leads to success and I will do the same for my studies. I also feel very fit and calm after going to the gym for a few months. Moreover, my strength and endurance keep on increasing,
