As already introduced in the image above, crumple was a project purely born out of a will to do something good for the planet, and in order to execute it there were a number of difficulties,

To start off actually researching and creating a plan for how to execute the project was a big task. The first step of the process was to figure out how paper recycling actually works or how it can be done with minimal resources and time investments. After figuring out and modifying the process of recycling new paper, we needed to gather resources for the process, to do this we divided the tasks among us, we arranged for special reusable nets that could be used to structure the paper, we had to gather sponges to dry the paper in order to maintain quality and finally we needed waste paper mache in order to create the paper itself. Every week before a session each of us would gather used paper from everywhere we could and create mache in extensive quantities, sometimes to the point of filling entire buckets!

The second step of the process was managing the sessions, from the when to the how. We managed to come up with a 4-month plan which contained approximately 6 to 7 paper recycling sessions. After creating a supplying an application form which volunteers could fill in order to participate in the project, we created groups for each of the sessions taking into consideration who could work most efficiently with each other when put in a team. Every week we would design specifications of the number of resources required in accordance with the strength of the group working in the consecutive session. It was difficult to find a venue, as it would need to stay vacant all day in order to allow the freshly made paper to dry, at the end we decided to settle onto two classes in the early years wing. Next, we needed a time wherein all of us could work for a sufficient amount of time without it having an impact on our in-school learning, in order to overcome this obstacle we went and took permission for the school to allow us to conduct the sessions during early-ins. However, the process did not end there, every day after the sessions we had to find spare time, sacrificing our breaks, transition times, free slots, etc to check up on the papers and to ensure they are dry enough to form in the utmost possible quality.

I found the whole process to be stress-inducing yet emotionally rewarding, the feeling of satisfaction that arises from investing so much time in planning and then successfully being able to execute the planning is much more valuable than the effort that is required to carry it out. Moreover, the whole process was made much easier through the fact that we could work in a team, motivating each other to do better and to continue to do so helped majorly in consistently giving my best in working towards the goal. Overall it was an amazing experience, it taught me a lot from helping me improve on abilities as a team player to teaching me how to manage my time effectively as well as organize and carry out relevant activities consistently. We did occasionally come to points wherein we would disagree with each other on how to solve a setback we were facing, but working through those moments taught me how to cooperate better with the team. Finally working and gathering information about such a crucial issue as environmental degradation, inspired me to do more, work towards more innovative solutions for the problem.
