Trekking – Kuari Pass Trek – Activity

In the 2022 summer, I and my fellow friends planned to go on a trek to Kuari Pass which is approximately 12,500 ft altitude. Trekking is full of wonderful experiences, new learnings, and great memories. This trek was 4 days long and every day there was about 7-8 km of ascending or descending. Not only that but to trek we also need to have a certain amount of fitness and stamina.
In this experience, the LOs covered are LO2, LO4, LO5, and LO6.

LO2(Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process) was catered in this experience because as a first timer trekking was not that easy for me. Hiking for around 6-7 hours a day was a bit of a challenge for me on the first two days. I faced many other challenges as well because on a trek we do not get all the facilities that we get at our home, when you trek you move out of your comfort zone. We had to wash out our own utensils pitch our own tents and sleep in around -5 to 5 degrees Celsius. I learn many things such as how to pitch a tent, how to wash utensils and manage things on my own.

LO4(Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences) was also catered in the experience because moving out of comfort zone is never easy for anyone and for me it was the same experience because hiking for 6-7 hours a day, doing everything on my own and still completing the trek was a great achievement for me. I was facing difficulties for the first two days but as time passed I was adapting the trekking experience and I showed commitment toward my goal of completing the trek.

LO5(Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively) was also catered in the experience because we were a group of 26 people aged from 10 years old to 60 years old. There were many first-timers like me and my friends and there were many trekkers who did high-altitude treks such as the Everest Base Camp trek. We all came from different cities and were meeting for the first time but still, we all were helping each other and making sure no one is left alone. We all completed the trek and each and everyone did reach the summit with no casualties.

LO6(Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance) was catered as well because the organization from which we went to the trek focuses on sustainable trekking and green trails. They provided us with side bags which were called eco bags. Whenever we hiked we used a specific trail to keep the forest clean we used to collect the litter and keep it in our eco bags. Not only on our trek but on each and every trek the organization provides eco bags to the trekkers and from this step the organization removed over 100 tonnes of litter from trekking trails.
