Freshers was a new occasion brought up this year is Fountainhead school Surat. It is basically an event where we celebrate the welcoming of the new batch. We throw a party is order to congratulate for coming this far and wishing them luck for the diploma programme. Since, we were seniors the facilitators handed over the project of managing and organizing this party to the 11 of us seniors. We had to plan a two-day event where day 1, was a simple welcoming gesture from our side in the form of dance. We began planning the event on 7th June and the freshers party was on 8th July. On 15th June, we welcomed the juniors with a treasure hunt and a dance for which a lot of planning and hard work was required. To make things easier we divided the team into departments. We had separate departments for decor, communication, resources, etc. There was a lot of brainstorming that had to be done in order to make this event a success. I was the communications incharge for the event. My role was to check with different departments for the progress, coordinate with the respective teachers whenever necessary, etc.

The platform gave me and opportunity to identify my strengths and weaknesses through organizing a school event. This event had its own share of setbacks and we made sure to overcome each one of them. I identified my areas of growth including working in a team and developed the same. Moreover, the entire event from planning to executing was on us which included organizing and initiating the plan. This will definitely be a great help in organizing future events. I’m not usually an organized person but during this entire process I had to be organized since it was a school event and a lot of formalities are to be done. The entire event required 1 month of planning, brainstorming and execution.

I learnt a lot from this event such as working with synergy, I developed my communication skills, worked on my planning.
