Playing a Fundraiser Tournament

I took part in a frisbee event which was a fundraiser; the organizing committee later donated every penny that was collected to a charity of their choice. The competition took place on August 15, 2021, and it was a pleasant experience that catered to the teams, the schedule, and the entire game. It was fantastic how we formed a team, participated in the competition, and even managed to place second in our pool all in the same morning.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

A lot of teams came and competed in this competition because it had been organized on a large scale. As a result, we had to compete against teams who had a fantastic level of skill and had been playing professionally for a long time. To win as many games as we could, we had to make sure that as a team, we performed well both individually and maintained team cohesion.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Not everyone was sure that we would win any of the matches because our squad had only been formed that morning and included players who knew nothing about the sport. But by maintaining a positive attitude and giving it our all, we managed to win three of the four games we played.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Since frisbee is a team sport, we were required to play as a team rather than individually. We made sure to take five minutes before every game to talk about our roles on the team and the strategy. As a result, we were able to play the game with composure and committed fewer errors. In order to score points and ultimately win games as a team, we made careful to stick to the responsibilities that were assigned. To contribute to the team’s progress, each member had to perform at their peak levels of ability.

Overall, the tournament was a success and all of us had a great time playing and knowing that we had played for a very good cause. This experience helped both; us and others; we were able to focus on our skill level and fitness levels whereas people in need had been helped by all the funds that were raised.
