Resin Art Workshop (Activity & Creativity)

The Krafty mall, a small business, hosted the resin art workshop. For the first 300 people, the workshop was free. I discovered them because of Instagram advertising. With so many people there, it was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed using  a number of techniques and skills to create resin art. We were given all the materials we needed, so I created a keychain and a bookmark using various colors. As it was free, the main goal was to attract individuals to learn this craft and display their creative abilities.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth: I was able to identify my weaknesses, after the supervisor had given instructions. She asked us to take proper proportion of resin and Hardner in 1:2 ratio. I took wrong measurements due to which my base was not proper so, in my first attempt I failed to make it. After seeking help from the volunteers, I was able to make, and the result was very attractive for other participants. My strengths in this task were that I was able to make good color combinations and use the materials wisely, using glitter, marbles made my artwork more creative.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process: The most challenging thing was, I was not at all familiar with this artwork, I haven’t done something similar to this, I was clueless, what to use when, what are the tools and skills used to make a resin art. I took help from my peers and volunteers. While making the base, there were a lot of bubbles in it which is a disadvantage for me, so there is a tool, fire gun, by which the bubbles don’t appear and there is a finishing in the final art. These things were bit challenging for me while making resin art. After undertaking this challenge, I feel that it was good that I took up this challenge and didn’t give up, the outcome was really satisfying, and I was happy with the artwork made my me.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences: The committee members took 50 rupees from each of the participants to ensure that they are coming on the day of the workshop, it was refundable after completing the workshop which was for two hours. Through this I enrolled in this workshop, and I was committed to attend it. As it was a weekend and the time was feasible for me, it helped me to attend the workshop. It is usually easy for me to commit things, which is either I am getting a reward, or an outcome, something which make me happier are the things I am committed to, so resin art was something I found very interesting due to which I was able to commit to attend this workshop.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: Working with others is generally easy for me, I like to interact with new people, learn new things from other, and I am an extrovert, so it is easy for me to work collaboratively with others. It was easy for me to work collaboratively in this workshop because my peers were the ones who helped me in making my artwork for creative and beautiful, they helped making my base and selecting the color for my bookmark and keychain. Teamwork in this workshop was important as, we were asked to share the resources given on the table, so working wisely with the number of people on the table was important. This helped us by not wasting any resources and if someone is stuck somewhere or has doubts were could internally solve them.
