Embroidery

I’ve seen people create phenomenal designs with just a needle and a thread, later I understood how much concentration it requires along with color coordination of threads and planning of patterns beforehand. It wasn’t just a needle and thread when I actually went through the task. This experience made me realize where my abilities lack in terms of concetration and work of delicacy. Learning embroidery helped me increase my concentration, this is a work of patience and the more you rush the terrible it will turn out to be, I understood this while embroidering. Initially, to get familiar with the basic techniques involved, I spent some time exploring tutorials for a better understanding and went further with the process by deciding the kind of techniques that I’m capable to practice as a beginner. It took me a few hours to have the design ready as well as gain knowledge on the task.

I felt like I had to improve on my weaknesses to embroider skillfully. It was important to know my strengths since it was the advantage that I had as a beginner in embroidering. Practicing beginner designs were helping me with the needle movements and concentration, I viewed many beginner tutorials before diving into it.

LO2-
The challenges that I faced were when the thread got stuck or I wasn’t able to undo my mistake, I had to ask for help for it. Other than that, I was able to adapt to the working style and quickly developed the skills to embroider. I have been interested in arts since I can remember, I have a sense of style in arts and hence it was easier for me. I discovered many new skills like patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure, a strong sense of creativity and design flair, the ability to concentrate while working with a needle, etc.

LO4-
I was committed to the task of research and executing the process of embroidering without any professional help. The difficulty that I faced was unfamiliarity with undoing the mistakes, it took a lot of time to understand the mistakes that I made while sewing and to practice avoiding them next time. This was a very interesting experience and I was fully committed to it and showed perseverance, I accomplished the target of learning basic embroidery easily.

Final takeaway-
This experience was a great opportunity to develop basic embroidering skills, I learned new skills and techniques and am now capable of learning a new stage in the same. I developed an interest in it and wish to explore more of it for future occurrences.
