GYM (Activity)

During the lockdown, I started focusing more on my physical fitness and health. Personally for me, by focusing on my physical fitness and health, I would indirectly improve my mental health and fitness which I struggled with a bit during the lockdown. One of the best to recover and not only maintain but improve my physical fitness is through exercise as it is an integral part of one’s physical well-being and indirectly mental well-being. Hence, going to the GYM 5 days a week for 6 months was an ideal way to stay committed and achieve my goal.

Due to CAS, I got an opportunity to balance my studies and physical fitness at the time of a never-ending stream of assignments. I started to go to the GYM from 2/1/22 (after my New Year’s resolution by setting a goal of improving physical fitness and health which slipped during the lockdown as I became obese) to 2/6/22. The learner profiles I exhibited through the activity are reflective as I reflected on some of my knowledge gained from my P.S & MYP PHE classes while making my workout plan, then knowledgeable as I gained immense knowledge about exercise with equipment, weightlifting, etc. Moreover, I also exhibited principled as I genuinely, with integrity, and without anyone’s monitoring, I went to the GYM 5 days a week for 6 months and followed my workout plan. Lastly, I exhibited balanced as I followed a timetable that balances my studies and my GYM schedule.

Moreover, the learning outcomes I demonstrated during my activity are L1 as I identified my strengths which are my work ethic, commitment, cardio, endurance, and BMI of 25.43 (Overweight). However, my weaknesses are weightlifting and core strength. L2 as therefore I overcame the challenges by making a personalized workout plan (L3) and also making a timetable to plan (L3) this activity for maintaining my commitment and perseverance (L4). L6, as I also engaged with an issue of global significance which is good health and well-being which was definitely a significant global issue during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns. At the end of the 6 months, my BMI was 20.0 (Normal) and my weaknesses of core strength and weightlifting significantly improved while my strengths of cardio and endurance also improved a bit which is evident in my physique, athleticism, strength, and conditionality after the 6 months.

All in all, I felt very positive both mentally and physically as my life became more balanced and I was able to achieve my goal and achieve my New Year’s resolution. Below are all of the pieces of evidence;
