CAS Reflection _ Excercise (Activity)

I have found that exercise helps improve physical health by increasing endurance, agility, flexibility and strength to the body. Exercise also helps improve mental health by increasing blood flow to the brain and relieving the body of anxiety and other negative emotions.

For saying that I have successfully complete this experience, I decided to observe my performance based on the criteria:

  1. Be able to do 10 pushups at once (strength)
  2. Be able to perform 50 sit ups at once (endurance)
  3. Be able to touch the toes of my feet with at least 1 finger (flexibility)
  4. Be able to perform 50 squats in 2 minutes (agility)
  5. Be able to perform 30 Triceps Dips (strength)
  6. Be able to perform 70 Sport Jumps (endurance)
  7. Be able to perform 40 Jumping Jacks in one minute (agility)

Overall, I should be able to reduce my weight to 62 kilograms or less with a starting weight of 65 kilograms. My secondary motivation was that performing workouts can help the body fight against pathogens when I am old which will ultimately lead to a longer life.

I demonstrated learning outcome 2 since I had to break my schedule to accommodate time for performing the workouts. Moreover, I was able to improve by strength, flexibility, endurance and agility rapidly in the initial 2 weeks. The main difficulty that I had to overcome was in the first 5 to 10 minutes of the workout where I had to warm my body up in order to avoid injuries and prepare my body for the upcoming punishing workout.

I catered to learning outcome 4 by showing commitment to this project over a period of 1 month. I constantly trained at least an hour on weekdays as well as weekends. Moreover, in the first few weeks of the workout my body was sore and aching during the intense workout sessions but by showing perseverance I overcome this obstacle. Now I can perform the above 8 criterias very easily.

The main highlights of the experience occurred after 2 weeks of my initial workout. While running I did not feel breathless since I had gained enough endurance to push my previous records. I found lifting heavyweights like chairs, tables etc. very easy. A bonus to performing the workouts based on flexibility was that it also improved my balance.

Overall, I would describe this workout venture a huge success. Not only did the workout improve the overall shape of my body, it also helped me remove negative emotions from my mind. I was easily able to accomplish all my 8 aforementioned criterias by a mile. I would like to continue the lifestyle that I adopted for this activity for an extended amount of time.
