Learning French

I always wanted to learn French as I thought learning this language could be helpful when I visit a foreign country and also French is a very popular language and that is why I wanted to learn it as a CAS experience. I am learning this language through the use of an online app, Duolingo which helps in learning through speaking exercises. I could learn pronunciations through listening and comprehension from learning how to translate French to English and vice versa without a translator so that helped me comprehend French better. The LO’s exhibited are LO1, LO2, and LO4.

LO1: Identify own strengths and developing areas of growth. This is exhibited as I identified my strengths. I am a quick learner and if I dedicate my time I can be more punctual. I also understood the areas of my growth, it is that I need to adapt to other people’s accents as pronunciations in French are much different from English. I also understood the importance of listening carefully as in some exercises I had to speak after listening to the words spoken by the app.

LO2 : Demonstrates that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. This is exhibited as mentioned earlier. The pronunciation of French is much different from English so sometimes understanding and speaking was complicated. Also due to revision for exams and completion of other pending tasks sometimes managing time was difficult so time management was a new skill I learned during the process.

LO4: Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experience. It is exhibited as showing commitment every day 15 mins before bedtime was difficult because sometimes I was not at home but still I needed to complete my exercises as I was committed to complete my daily task.
