Krish Arora – CAS Experience – Beach Clean Up

Beach Clean up

I am a bit of a traveler and like to travel around places mainly focusing on local areas. Staying in Surat, I decided to take a look at various beaches. I observed trash lying around on the shore which stole the beauty away from the beach. I then decided to work on that and clean, specifically the Dumas beach every weekend for a month. To complete this task, I gathered around a few of my friends who helped me clean the beach and collect evidence.

LO-1 – I identified my areas of growth by increasing my interest in the planet and the cleanliness of it. My strengths were cycling which we did to reach to our destinations and clean up the places.

LO-2 – I developed new skills and faced challenges such as travelling more than 15 to 20 km by cycle in the sun and cleaning up the dirty places. Here, I developed confidence by speaking to the locals and getting information about where and how all the garbage comes from and how vendors normally dispose it.

LO-3 – My and a group of my friends initiated, planned and organized this CAS project by ourselves and completed it according to our schedule. We planned out a schedule and invited people to join us in our CAS project. Here we as a group went to various sites to clean the environment.

LO-4
For a month, I was very regular to clean up the beaches and cleaned the beaches every weekend. Over time, few of my friends decided not to accompany me for the rest of the weekends, which was a bit of a problem, but I still completed the task on time according to my schedule and tried to create awareness of it.

LO-5 – We worked collaboratively without any hindrance and completed the given task on time. As a group, we were able to get more people to be a part of the project. This helped us in many ways. But obstacles did occur as over time, people were losing interest in cleaning places so it was difficult to motivate and convince them to join us to complete the project successfully.

LO-6
Here, I engaged in the significance of global issues which in this case was beach cleanup. Here, I tried to spread awareness to people by collecting and throwing out trash in front of them which helped people realize not to spread garbage around a public place.

LO-7
I recognised the ethics of my choices and actions which helped people influence and realize the consequences of spreading trash in public places.
