ANAND UTSAV

Anand Utsav was an event held in my school Fountainhead by the children of 12th grade. We have been studying in this school since kindergarten and got endless support from our teachers and support staff throughout so we thought it essential to thank them for such great efforts without even complaining once.

This event was for the support staff of fountainhead to thank them and make them happy. At this event, we had various stalls, food, music, dance, games and etc. Starting with games there were multiple games arranged like ping-pong, VR, tug of war and etc which certainly all the staff loved playing after which we had a Garba session too which is loved by all. The event also had an indoor area where we had arranged Jenga, charades, and many more fun games. To make the event look beautiful and different we decorated our school with recycled material like newspaper and waste chat paper.

I didn’t really think that I would enjoy this event as much as I actually did. Through the event, the smiles I saw were so genuine which even gave me the motivation to conduct more such events as they enjoyed it from the bottom of their heart.

It is really essential to respect the service we receive and pay it back as we have the opportunity to buy whatever we want but not everyone has got the same opportunity.

LO 1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Speaking in front of a large audience has always been a challenge for me and it restricts me from participating in great opportunities. Participating in this event gave me a chance to interact with lots of people which was challenging but at the same time exciting, it was actually a great learning experience. Socialising skills are a very essential set of skills you require through out your life, in meetings, presentation, events, parties and etc.

Knowing our strengths and weakness is also very important because we can use our strengths in various activities which will help us grow. We can improve our weaknesses and turn them into strengths.

LO 2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

The most challenging part was making sure the staff is having fun in the event because the event was for them and making sure they have fun was our first priority. I have been part of donation drives but not an event similar to this but i would love to be a part of something this wonderful in the future. I tried my best to engage myself through out the event by interacting with as many people as possible.

I feel very proud doing this and it is important to take new challenges because it helps us improve ourselves and bring out the best version.

LO 5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working collaboratively is generally not an obstacle for me as dividing work and completing makes it easy and it helps speed up also more ideas that come into the picture which may enhance the project. While working together for Anand Utsav each one of us contributed equally by their efforts and creative ideas.

There was certainly a lot of chaos while working as there were so many people and a lot of work too. So everyone was running around the school and trying to complete their part.

Working together as a group is a very essential life skill as in the future we all will definitely will have huge projects where we will have to work with all kinds of people with different age-roups, mindsets, and gender so these small events and instances help us build these set of skills.

The goal was to complete all the decor in a span of 2-3 hours before all the guests started coming and to make sure everything ran smoothly during the event hence it was quite mandatory that we complete all the work quickly and beautifully and we needed teamwork in that.

LO 6-Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

In India specifically working staff is not at all respected, people treat them as if they own their lives which is not at all fair and very brutal. They are also humans like us who should be treated equally and be appreciated for the time and effort they provide us with even though we are the ones paying them that does not mean we can buy ‘them’. Hence this event was to acknowledge them for their work. This issue is important globally because people need to understand to what extent they make our lives easy and comfortable and why we should respect them. I have seen people around me abusing their staff and not respecting them which bothers me. Participating in this event gave me this wonderful opportunity and improve my skills too.

In a nutshell, being a part of this event was a reality check to how privileged our lives are and how we should respect the ones making it easy and luxurious.
