LO’s: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Swappers Stop was an event initiated by the business management and economics team. Major focus of this event was to support both sustainability and a barter system that works on the exchange of the items given through credit points.

Before executing the event, I and my friend was selected as a Decor coordinator for the event. It was a bit challenging for me since I need to hold a position of a leader and under me there were ten people who worked as a volunteers. Keeping in mind about the volunteers, I prefered to have a democratic leadership style where I allowed volunteers to participate in decision-making since, it was a huge event we need to have different and unique ideas. At first, it was very difficult to execute the idea because we were majorly focused on “sustainable ideas” and “best out of waste” where we need to hunt for all the resources which contribute to sustainable enviroment. For easy searching for the resources we planned to focus on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, which benefited us while choosing the resources wisley.

Creating and initating the plan, was the top most important thing before we start with the process, It was the toughest process. For this we need to ensure that all the planning, resources and stalls arrangement are ready a day prior to the event. To ensure smooth event, we made a whatsapp group and Google space to ensure easy communication. We gathered all the ideas, resources and arrangment of the stalls to avoid any misscomunication and can easy manageable for us.

This event took place in August where we were having on-going submissions and academic test with other events. I had to show commitment by coming early in to the school or missing my free classes to finish all the pending work assigned to me during this event. Even though i had my upcoming test and personal task, I showed by preservance by completing the task assigned to me and even I need to regulary check for resources availability and volunteers responsibility.

Here, I also demonstrated working collabrativly skills in order to make this event more successful. Working together benefited whole decor team because we were able to share our ideas and demonstrate it. We also sacrificed few ideas to come up with the best one. However, there were many internal disputes created within people due to clashing ideas and to follow basic rules and procedures for the event but, we managed to work collabrative to understand individuals strength and weakness and execute the event. Each and everyone in the team has participated with full enthusiam and have demonstared their strength.

At last, This event was had a major inputs towards global significance. Due to the rapid growth in the fast Fashion Industry Trends, the fashion pieces and goods available in a individual’s closet isn’t utilised properly and is left there for decades. The items might be in good condition and will still be holding value . As a part of promoting sustainability we ought to exchange goods with others people’s unwanted goods to minimise wastage, recycling resources and reusing the goods for a better use.
