Beach Cleaning

I am genuinely very bothered about our planet which is not dirt-free anymore because of the people who don’t care for cleanliness properly. People throw trash everywhere especially in India which is why cleanup drives are very important. I joined a group of my friends who planned to go to Dumas, which is one of the beaches in Surat, and we started cleaning there.

We were able to collect 4 large plastic bags on the first day, 7 large plastic bags on the 2nd day, 6 large plastic bags on the 3rd day, and 11 large plastic bags on the 4th day. Global warming is a very worrying issue for the future of mankind, which is why we all  need to urgently stop throwing it away. Also, dumping trash on the beach can make the life of underwater animals very serious. Recognizing this global problem, we can actually make a small difference here, but better than nothing.

Learning outcome 1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. While talking about Pros: I am very good at major events. In this experience, I had joined my friends to clean the beach, so I had helped them to organize everything for ourselves. The entire event ran smoothly on all the days. At the same time,  when making a weak decision, we had only cleared Dumas beach rather than going for many other options which were available.

Learning outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Why made this job difficult where patience and dedication are needed? The activity was difficult because it required  patience and social skills, and both were covered. Personally, I tend to be very impatient, and I have to do it very patiently, so this job was also difficult. Commitment was also a very important key as this was a great experience, but even if I was cleaning up on the beach, I needed a commitment to complete the cleaning up. I felt like someone who should be working on something similar to this project, even on a small scale, should feel proud as something is always good rather than nothing.

Learning outcome 6:  Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

The issue that we addressed is a global issue for the species that live in the unhygienic areas, as well as humans indirectly. We concentrated on protecting the environment and the species that live on the Dumas beach and in the water. Plastic was the most commonly discovered material such as plastic bottles and wafer wrappers on the beach, and it is the most harmful to the environment because stray dogs and pet dogs on the beach might consume it. Significantly, these species can consume the contents of plastic, which can be harmful to them. It is critical that we maintain cleanliness in all areas for ourselves and those around us.

Learning outcome 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Our group had a lot of fun while doing this job. We are so proud of ourselves that we took an ethical step towards the environment and our actions itself describes the same. We would be obliged if teachers and others join us to make our Surat city a clean city.

My learner profile was reflective. It is because. I am able to assess and understand the strengths and limitations in order to support my learning and personal development. This activity also gave me a sense of accomplishment and public health.

In conclusion, From now on, I’ve learned that any small action taken to make the world a more livable place is always appreciated. This beach cleanup made me realize my group-work strengths and weaknesses. I also learned how important it is for all of us to stand up for our environment.
