I’ve always had a sketchbook in which I would make drafts, artworks, etc. But I’ve never had a sketchbook as a journal where I just draw or do whatever I wanted every day. Thus taking CAS as an opportunity I decided to make one now, it is a small A6 journal where I just do whatever I want to. It is not necessary that I only draw, I stick things, scribble, write, basically do whatever I want.
LOs:
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Even though I have always worked towards making my drawing better as it is also a career I want to pursue ahead I always feel like I get left behind in noting down my ideas and thoughts which makes it harder for me to take up any new artwork, thus by creating the day to day journal it can help me record my emotions and ideas very well which I can always refer to in the future.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
As I said I always did have a sketchbook but I couldn’t take it with me everywhere thus this is something very new, as it is a very small book I can always keep it with me. The challenging part for me was that even though I did have this sketchbook with me all the time but I couldn’t carry all the resources like paints etc. which I need when I draw, but thanks to that it helped me do works with limited resources as well.
LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Usually it is very hard for me to stick to one thing and keep continuing it for very long as I get bored and move on other things very quickly, thus here the commitment and preservence of doing this daily was very necessary. While doing this there would be times when I would feel like I could skip a day of journaling but then I had to make up my mind again and do it, because if I start by skipping a day I get less and less regular.
One of the learner profiles that I demonstrated during this experience is Reflective, as I reflected my even of the whole day on a piece of paper, another one is Principled as I always made sure no matter how tired I am or unwilling to do it I never skip a day of journaling otherwise it can become a habit. This experience made me realise how important it is for me to carry my journal and how big of a help it is for my art, as just even referring to it helps me get new ideas and thus I am going to keep continuing this experience.
