Cooking, or the preparation of food, is the most approachable, engaging, and understandable form of creativity. It is a practice that arose from a universal need, but it is infinitely diverse, meaningful, and personal in nature. Cooking is a way to bring joy to both the creator of the food and those who eat it. Cooking is a creative activity. “I enjoy cooking because it allows me to be creative and inventive while also helping others.” Cooking is not only creative but it is also an hobby, it is a community “Good food puts a smile on people’s faces and that makes me happy” Cooking is a fun time to learn new skills, try new things, and spend time with people I care about while we cook together

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

The more opportunities for children to learn by doing, the better their learning outcomes will be. Cooking offers numerous learning opportunities in all areas of development. Cooking helps to teach so many skills including life skills and can help to foster a positive attitude towards food.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Cooking can be intimidating. Especially when you have to worry about things like fires, sharp knives, and the dreaded clean up. It was difficult for me to commit to cooking and break my long period of inactivity. But I made up my mind and felt fulfilled as a result. the skills i developed are :

  • it helped me Encourage creativity.
  • Food preparation enhances organizational and cleanliness skills.
  • It’s a good way to spend time together and encourages bonding between siblings, friends, and so on.
  • it help in creating a foundation for healthy habits and food and nutrition skills that will last a lifetime.
