Tree Plantation

With the imminent threat of climate change and an environmental catastrophe looming over our heads, it is essential that all of us do something from our side to help improve the worsening situation, and no matter how small our contribution we must remember that if all the 7.8 billion people on earth do 1 little thing a day then that is 7.8 billion little ways that the environment isn’t harmed due to our activities each day. Do my side of this Job I decided to help in a tree plantation drive. In the 3 weeks that I visited the farm, I planted around 60 bamboos, and 20 other various trees. I also plan on continuing this activity for as long as I can.

The most challenging part of being in this tree plantation drive was working outdoors for several hours in the sun. Surat is not known for its winters which was made incredibly evident by the hot mornings and sweaty hours. It was challenging for me as it would completely drain me out and leave me with little energy to carry on. Along with this organizing, the timings for the plantation was also challenging since not only did we have to fix when we would go we also had to arrange for the trees and the food required to successfully achieve the goal.

The trees and plants that we planted are those which help to hold the soil together, gather nutrients for the surrounding vegetation, and provide oxygen, food, and shade for the animals. Along with this, we ensured that we kept a lot of diversity in the trees so that we did not inevitably create a dead ecosystem but rather a thriving and vivid one.

The 3 weeks that I went to plant the trees were some of the most memorable moments that I had, the time and dedication put forward by the group and myself led to an incredibly successful journey that helped us to do our tiny bit for nature. It also helped me to connect more with nature and form a bond with all the trees that I planted.
