I am a biology student by heart, I have always had an interest in the Natural Sciences, and being surrounded by a family of all doctors, is only understandable. Due to all this exposure, I also want to pursue a career in the field of medicine. Henceforth, taking an Internship at Unique Hospital Surat allowed me to explore my field of interest and its daily workings.
The internship lasted 3 weeks wherein I visited the hospital almost daily and was assigned to a working doctor. My responsibilities as an intern included performing minor tasks like checking the admitted patient’s health status and reporting them to my assigned mentor and observing how a hospital functions on a specially designed framework every day. The experience allowed me to develop my collaboration and time management skills. Along with this meeting, so many new people and getting to know them through mere short interactions was an emotionally satisfying experience.
Through this internship, I was also taught basic first aid procedures and other emergency protocols meant to be followed in a hospital environment, the discipline, and a basic understanding of how the whole enterprise is regulated through government laws and ethical as well as social expectations. The challenges an individual in the healthcare industry faces also became increasingly evident, including the hard-working hours, the stressful environment, and the consistent need to meet patient expectations.
