In the CAS experience, I showcased the component service as I played a role in the community for a better cause which was cleaning the beach which obviously helped in the cleaning and hygiene part but also when people saw me picking up the trash they threw they felt guilt as they realized what they were doing wrong. The garbage not only makes the place polluted but also for the animals living there it makes it so hard for them to survive, be it any habitat. I went on two different days and will be going more often too. Even a woman came up to me and asked why I was cleaning as it was again going to get dirty but when I explained to her she also understood the depth of the problem and even agreed with me.

LO 3-Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

The motive was to spread the message of how irresponsible people behave in public places and how deeply their actions affect our environment which they are equally part of. So I planned to visit at a time when most amounts of people were present; therefore, planning my schedule accordingly along with school work. I usually prefer everything well-planned and timely so I don’t miss out on important work and I am able to catch up. The planning part is always smooth and easy for me but the execution is very difficult because of my lethargic behavior too, I put off things for later and I seem to never complete them on time then. Having a habit of organizing things and keeping them well planned is a very essential skill which also helps us in our future for much bigger and important events. I developed the ATL skill of “self-management skills” through this experience.

LO 4-Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Going to the Dumas beach in surat is not a viable option for the perseverance in this experinece but cleaning and hygiene are required and important all over the world not only one singke place, likewise, going to Dumas was not practically possible for me every few days hence I decided to only pay attention to one place but areas around me too, starting with my room and home. Also while going to classes daily I have seen plants that are covered with plastic and even in my own household I have seen my mom or any helper throwing garbage on the road, therefore it was important to start with my near and dear ones hence I educated people around me regarding how they should understand why keeping cleanliness, especially in public places is indispensable.

LO 6 “Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance” 

The issue was that people were polluting every place they visit and didn’t realize how bad of an effect that was making, there are so many things we do and don’t realize that it may contribute to something negative but if I know that a particular thing may harm the environment I may avoid doing it and even convince others to do the same so this is definitely personal growth. After I picked up the garbage and I saw people noticing me it felt so so so good knowing that I made so much of a difference in one day.

LO 7-Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

We are the ones polluting the oceans and our surroundings so it is our responsibility to take ownership of it and make sure it does not have negative impacts. This issue affects us directly as in our health. When I went to the location I felt so bad that it was so dirty and nobody even bothered and t was not even possible for a single person to make a difference.

I learned how much garbage s there in the oceans not only on this beach but there would be so many more beaches like this and nobody is taking any action. So we need to spread awareness about this global issue and make people aware of how their actions are not only going to affect them but animals also us in the future.
