Strength Training

Due to the pandemic, I had fallen severely behind on my exercise regime the effects of which were becoming increasingly more apparent and drastic. Thus I decided to get back on my feet and start an improved and more comprehensive exercise regime. I took up the goal to increase my overall body strength and muscle mass to lead a more healthy life. I decided to visit the gym 4 times a week for 1 hour 30 mins each time to take strength training from a fitness coach. Each week I went to the gym on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The days were split into different muscle groups to improve effectiveness and decrease fatigue. Along with this, my goal was to understand how far I could push myself and break my own limits.

Through this activity, I was able to understand that even though my body may look frail and weak from the outside I have immense strength within me. This has given me a much-required confidence boost along with a much healthier body. I also understood that one of my knees which had an injury in the past requires special attention and care for which I did exercises and am now able to do strenuous activities without the need for a knee brace. Not only this I became aware of my diet and started improving on it to meet my daily nutritional requirements to keep my body well-fed.

During the start of this activity, it was very challenging for me to gather the strength and motivation required to go to the gym and with all the sore muscles there were several times the I thought of giving up entirely, although the vision seeing a better version of myself was what drove to me persevere and continue. This was an eye-opening moment for me as I am not someone who used to enjoy physical activities although as time went on I started to enjoy my time at the gym and now I can’t miss a single day without regretting it. I used to play sports in the past but never really had any motivation to do so but, now that I have found something that I do for myself I can truly cherish my time spent doing it.

As of the time of writing this blog I am capable of:

Deadlift: 80kg

Squat: 65kg

Shrugs: 60kg
