FS MUN 8.0 – Event Photography.

FS MUN 8.0, an event where students from middle and high school unite to form the Model United Nations. This was the 8th year, but it was my first time experiencing this kind of an event. I truly was privileged to get a chance to do photography for this event. The best and the most fun experience of my life. The 0 Hour of LOK SABHA, Countries fighting with each other, all the different sections UNSC, WHO, DISEC, UNHRC. An event every student should witness. This event was a perfect stage where I could show my skills.

This experience covered 2 of the 7 learning outcomes, Learning outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process, and Learning outcome 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

From grade 8, I started gaining interest in photography and film making, I took my Arts – Special subject as Photography. At that time I was a newbie, I did not know how to use the camera, not a single function. My sister is a professional photographer, she helped me learn a lot. Grade 9, school was closed after the 1st term because of COVID. Our AS classes were shut, after the lockdown I had not touched my camera till this event. Almost a gap of 1.5 years. Here comes the challenge, at the time of the event, I had forgotten how to operate the camera, 1 day before the event, I took help from my sister and told her to explain. Flashback to grade 8, we had learned the basic functions. My sister taught me the perfect mode and set up for an event. As I mentioned above, I have interest in the field of photography, and it is a career option for me, so gaining experience from this event would help me in the future if I go in this field. Learning new skills can help us in many situations, hardships that we have ahead, by learning new skills we’ll have an advantage over the situation that we are in.

Moreover, talking about the LO 4, the thing that made this activity difficult was that I had to relearn the functions a day before the event. At that time I was really nervous about “will I be able to click photos properly?”, but I gave my best and that made me feel really confident. Moving forward, the commitment that I made was to give my best and deliver quality work. It is easy to make commitments but hard to deliver them when the time arrives, it was easy for me to make the commitment as I was confident, that I will be able to deliver good quality work. Showing perseverance and commitment towards your work or any other activity is important as this quality will help you in the future.
