Financial Market Analysis

I was curious about financial markets for a long time, and my love for graphs and statistics augmented my curiosity. However, I was not able to learn about financial markets due to the never-ending stream of assignments and examinations.

CAS in Grade 11, gave me the opportunity to formally learn about financial markets. This formal training enabled me to immensely develop my statistical analysis skills. Before learning about financial markets, I was always interested in participating in discussions related to them but I did not have any considerable knowledge regarding it. However, through the systematic exploration of different graphs and candlestick patterns. I was able to use my skills to develop new strategies.

I identified various strengths and weaknesses while learning about financial markets, I realized I am not very good at reading financial statements but I am skilled enough to use various technical indicators. It also made me realize that it is very important to know about our strengths and weaknesses as it helps us identify our areas for growth. I worked more on the area I was weak in and finally developed a good understanding of financial statements which benefited me to a great extent.

Learning about financial markets was somewhat challenging for me as I had to learn about graphs which I had never seen before and I had to learn mathematical algorithms that I have not been taught in school yet. So, I had to learn all the things that I have not been introduced to yet in a separate course which made this experience more challenging. However, learning these skills helped me a lot and it made my learning process easier. Also, These skills will be useful to me further in life as I will be faced with situations where I have to use the skills I have developed.

Learning about financial markets required a lot of commitment and perseverance as it is a long process and you are introduced to new concepts every day. Learning these new terminologies every day required great commitment. However, in the end, it made me feel more confident about myself as it is not very easy for me to stay committed to things.

I developed the learner profile inquirer throughout my CAS experience as I showed curiosity to learn about financial markets and acquired the necessary skills to conduct inquiry and research. I also developed the learner profile thinker through my CAS experience as I applied thinking skills critically to recognize complex problems while analysing data and made reasoned decisions while solving them. My CAS Experience is connected with the subject of Business Management as I learned how to analyze companies through managerial and financial viewpoints during my experience.

I learned a lot through this CAS experience and this learning will be useful for me for the rest of my life. Completing the experience brought me a sense of accomplishment and made me feel more confident about myself. I further plan on spreading my knowledge about financial markets to my peers through formal discussions and online meetings.
