One of my favorite tv-sitcoms has been The Office and as a film student I enjoy making videos that capture the true essence of something, so with that, the idea of making a senior year vlog documentary was born. As a grade 12 student, there is a lot that goes on in our life, especially as a part of IBDP. We have multiple events, submissions, stress, and problems as well but we also have a pretty typical high school life. Next year all my classmates and I will be in separate places, some of them have studied in FS their whole lives, and some didn’t but are an equal part of what makes it special. To capture that was my main aim, Senior year in its true form with all the positives and the negatives.

I have always loved taking videos and photos of my friends, even at home my gallery is filled with their pictures. My strength is my ability to observe people and capture moments that are good memories. I wanted to make a film that showed us in our rawest, most unfiltered form and I have a knack for that. I wanted to develop my cinematography skills as well and this project will help me do so.

I first emailed my film teacher at the time, and my coordinator for approval for a project like this as it might require the consent of over 130 students and all the students as well. Also ensuring that I take responsibility and that there will be no misuse of any footage that is captured. I wrote a message entailing all the details to scope out whether my classmates were open to an idea like this before pitching it to the teachers and got a positive response. I came up with a proper plan to show that I am serious about this and how I will go about it so that they approve and they did after several discussions.

This project is going to continue for the entire academic year until my batch graduates, we will have the screening for the event as the purpose is to capture every essential senior year experience that we would all want to remember. I began filming from the first day of school when an obstacle and movie were planned for us by our teachers and from then on I have been filming regularly with my other team members on field trips, event days, and even regular classes as such. This will get us all the content we need to make memorabilia that we can have for life.
L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboartively
I am working on this project with 2 of my peers who have had experience with filming and editing. I have been closely working with both of them to ensure coherence and filter out footage with pallning how we plan to screen and edit this film even with the smallest of details. After I pitched the idea to them and asked to work on it with me, I made sure that all of our ideas are heard and can be collaboratively infused into the essence of this film.
