This CAS experience was very heart-touching as I fed stray dogs near my society as I have heard a lot of news recently that many stray dogs are dying due to starvation. Dogs as a bread are very close of me as I myself had a dog which recently passed away. I used to take a lot of care of him and he was more than a pet to me. With that feeling I understood that no one takes care of the stray dogs and they are not feed properly and so I took an initiative to feed all the dogs in my society. This experience will continue till at least 3 months.
LO 2 is Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills. I ensured that lunch and dinner for the dogs are prepared and served at 2 pm and 8 pm. To ensure that it is served on right time, my mom and my security guard helped me. My mom used to prepare food when I am in school and my security guard used to give the prepared food to the stray dogs. While in the night, I myself went and gave food to the dogs. There were times when I had to go outside in night but due to time clashing I had to delay my plans accordingly.
LO 3 is initiate and plan a CAS experience. Usually, I am a very unorganised person but due to the care I had for dogs, I made sure that lunch and dinner both are given to the dogs on right time so that they don’t have to go to look for food any where else. Sometimes due to being late, I saw them patiently waiting for me where they are everyday fed.
LO 5 is Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively. As I was working with other two individuals for this experience, which were my mother and security guard. It took of a lot of pressure from my head and it was distributed amongst all of us equally. We were assigned specific work to do, which helped us prepare and distribute food faster on regular basis. I would say It would not be an easy task to do this by my own.
LO 6 is Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. The main issue is starvation, as many stray dogs die every year due to the same. The report says that every year the number of dogs dying due to the reasons are increasing 10% which is a huge amount and in the long run it can also damage and harm the food chain. Hence, to solve this issue of zero hunger and increase the quality life for life on land, I stated an initiative to feed stray dogs.
LO 7 is Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions. We were feeding homeless dogs in our neighbourhood, which is something that few people do, so it was perfectly ethical and the correct thing for us to do, and it was also expected of others.
