This experience is something that helps the community of people understand the significance of using different dustbins, one for wet waste and the other one for dry waste, using 2 different dustbins is not a very difficult task, and if people use them, it really gets easy to segregate recyclable materials and makes the government workers job easier.
I was always a caring guy, getting to know about how having and using 2 different dustbins can be helpful to the community, help mother earth, and how easy the work of people who works for public corporation gets.
the LO’s I learned while performing this experience were LO1, LO2, LO3, LO5, LO6
LO1 & LO2 – Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth, Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
I am a very introverted person so making a stand like this helped me in growing my extrovert attitude more and it really helped me a lot because gaining the extrovert attitude gave me the confidence to put up my point in public or even give my opinion
LO3 & LO5 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience & Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:
initiating a CAS experience like this was easier when I had 2 more of my friends with me since it helped me not being an introvert and speak up for myself and what we did was we went to a few buildings and relatives and one slum area to make people aware of the dustbin and told them to try to inform others through which the awareness spreads
LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance:
the global significance which can be targetted from this awareness is reduction in work and a smooth flow of recycling materials, and another one can be segregating waste in order to keep our surroundings clean and an important global significance can be global warming as if we throw all the materials without recycling them, the global warming will rise very high and can lead to worst scenario situation for our future generations
LO7 – Recognize and reconsider the ethics of choices and actions:
this experience was very much important for people to know and understand but keeping the thing in mind that people still don’t understand how important this situation is and how fast they should start segregating their waste is the issue, we went to a lot of different areas for this awareness but the places where there were poverty/ slum areas, people wouldn’t just listen to us as they would never prefer segregating their waste as they don’t know how it is affecting the world and since they are poor they cannot afford to buy 2 dustbins.
