Learning Table Tennis

I always wanted to learn this sport as this is a very good game and is very interesting and when I got to know about CAS I thought of taking this opportunity and learn a new sport. I and my brother have a membership in Amazia Club where we have a coach who told me that he will help me learn this sport and he told me to come every day at 6 at the club so that he can help me learn the game, I went there for 2 weeks and learned the game. Once I knew I could play the game I thought of competing in a Table Tennis tournament and I went there and hopefully, I did well in the game. I exhibited Lo1, Lo2, Lo4, Lo7and Lo5 throughout this experience.

The learner profile attribute I exhibited was Balanced as I balanced my school work along with playing Table Tennis because I had to go to Amazia and also complete my IB submissions, Summative Assessments and other project works.

I used Lo1 which is to Identify own strengths and develop areas of growth this was used as I realized my strength is because I play sports such as football I have fast reflexes so when I had to counterattack on the ball due to fast reflexes I was able to counterattack some smash or some other kind of shot. Also, I am a fast learner so that is why I learned everything in a short period of time. An area of growth I got to know about myself is that I am impatient and that is why I lost many points because I wasn’t playing the correct shot at the correct time that I should have played.

I used Lo2 which is Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process, a challenge that I faced was time management because I had to spend a lot of time learning the sport and traveling some of my assignments and Homework were delayed because I wasn’t able to cope up with both my school work and learning table tennis but after some time I developed a new skill which was time management I changed my timetable of how my day passes and I was able to manage everything appropriately.

I used Lo4 which is to Show commitment to and perseverance in the CAS experience, I had to show a lot of commitment while learning table tennis as because I had to learn it in 2 weeks I had to miss going to different places and I had to sacrifice many things in order to learn Table Tennis, but still I showed commitment and learned the sport in 2 weeks.

I used Lo5 which is Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively, I feel everything is easier when you have a companion while learning something, and because of that I took my brother with me and because of that he would push me to play better and to come daily at Amazia and because of that I was motivated and could complete learning Table Tennis.

In this experience I was also able to cater LO7 which stands for following ethics of the games and rules for the fair game. Despite wanting to win or have my rounds only.
