As we all know, there is a lot of deforestation happening  these days in order to build new buildings and establish infrastructure, and yet what we do not even know is that it causes all sorts of problems such as global warming, soil degradation and increased greenhouse emissions throughout the environment, and plenty more. This project  provided me with the opportunity to do something positive for the environment, so I took part in the Econova tree planting event. ( Econova is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the environment and uplifting people for a noble cause).

I initiated the learner profile Caring. As a responsible citizen of my country, I was seizing the opportunity to grow and care for plants. Tree plantation  prospered not only with me, but also with the community.Trees take in CO2 and emit out oxygen which helps to breathe fresh air. Since it improves air quality by purifying  air pollutants we breathe. 

LO 2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The most difficult aspect of this occasion was that it was all new to me; this was my very first time learning how to grow any type of tree, and as such everything seemed to be new to me, but I had to understand how to do everything. I feel much better about addressing these challenges because there may be times in the future once I will need to plant trees, so starting to learn such services was very beneficial and enjoyable. I know that implementing new challenges is very effective because it helps to be stronger mentally by providing confidence in such a difficult journey.

LO 4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

We have to do this when we have so much to do already because as a responsible citizen we have to take care of our environment and surroundings. I committed myself to take part in different Econova or any other NGOs new projects and help others. Trust me, it feels so delightful when you do something for someone . 

LO 6 : Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

It is connected to the sustainable Goal 13 and 15, which is about climate action and life on land.  I wished to promote plant growth by being involved in a global issue. Planting is crucial to make our future sustainable and for betterment of climate change.

LO 7 :  Learning Outcomes into practice

The ethical choice which was made by Econova and the participants like us have done something good for the society and environment. Our action itself indicates the right thing we are doing for the community so that not only us but the people in the city “Surat” can feel fresh air by making this city pollution-free. 

Takeaways :

Firstly, the takeaways I got from this CAS experience was that I found it very fun to do things that I couldn’t even imagine at first. Secondly , it’s even better that everything had gone in the right direction due to one attribute of the learner profile: “Caring” . At this event, I was introduced as a caring person who had to take care of the environment by planting trees, and since working together as a team. We were able to achieve a huge goal. The completion of this activity gave me a sense of satisfaction, knowing that it was for a noble purpose and I enjoyed it too. 

At the end, I want to thank the whole Econova group for giving me this opportunity through which I had experienced and learnt a lot.
