Every corner and every street in India is filled with stray dogs with some studies estimating the number up to 6.2 crores. Due to the abundance of street dogs, the value and care for them in people’s minds are decreasing. Street dogs of an area face constant abuse and are not well-fed by the people in the particular area. Even if they are fed, they are given biscuits and kitchen waste which is not good for their health, and biscuits are considered poison for dogs, still, people continue to feed them to dogs and ignore the fact that it could harm the dogs. I decided to feed the poor street dogs and provide them with enough nutrition so that they can live a healthy life.
LO 3:- I decided to research on the possible nutritious foods that could be given to the dogs, after which I found that common household foods like roti, eggs, etc are very good for the health of stray dogs. Then I counted the number of stray dogs around my area and decided to make a team that could regularly feed these stray dogs and they never sleep hungry again.
LO 4:- I and my team made banners to raise awareness on feeding stray dogs and which food is best for them, we continuously fed the stray dogs in my area for 34 days and we worked with full commitment without skipping a single day
LO 5:- As a team, we made a much larger impact as while raising awareness, a lot of people joined the movement and fed the street dogs around them with nutritious food. The members of the team were from different societies and different parts of the area so together we were able to feed more and more stray dogs and the friends of the members also joined the team taking the service even further
LO 6:- Dogs and other animals are also living creatures and deserve the resources equally as we humans do, as the most intelligent member of society we humans should take care of other animals as well and share the resources with them as well. The issue is global, in almost every country with street dogs living freely, the street dogs are not provided with enough nutritious food causing them to die or starve hence we decided to post it on social media handles to take the movement further ahead and with an aim to attract global audiences.
LO 7:- The resources are not only for humans but for animals as well and they also deserve to have proper and nutritious food, we have destroyed their natural habitat with abundant food to create buildings and roads hence the stray dogs have to depend on humans to get food. So just giving food like biscuits would not be ethical as it is harming the animals, instead giving foods that is nutritious and helps in the development of the stray dogs is ethical.
