Dessert Stall for a literary event “WordWise”

WordWise by Monsoon Musing is a literary event which is organized by our school every year. In this event many teachers and students participated to present their written masterpiece in the form of poems and stories. However there were three stalls in which one was of jewelry, second one was for exchanging and donating books and third one was a dessert stall which was organized by me and other two students. Being a business management student I eagerly wanted to have an experience of selling my product and I saw the opportunity during this event.Whatever revenue we collected from the dessert stall, all of it we donated to a charitable trust.

Learning outcomes:

LO1:

Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Being a Business Management student I wanted to organize a stall through which I can learn about managing my own business. Our group consisted of three people,we divided our work and in which I had to bring  toppings for the dessert and bake brownies. As I was not good at baking my mother helped me and taught me how to make brownies.

LO2:

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

As this was my first time organizing a stall, I was not aware about the pricing of the product but as it was a group work my peers helped me as they had an  experience of such work. Another challenge for me was that I didn’t know how to bake but I learned how to bake from my mother and due to that I was able to learn a new skill.

LO6:

Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

While using  decoration material, we made sure that most of them were reusable and minimised the amount of wastage. There was no wastage of food as by the end of the event all food items were consumed. The plates and spoons which were used to serve food were made up of wood which means they were biodegradable. We also donated all the revenue collected at the end of the event to the charitable trust.
