The Sustainability Drive was a group project and we had 5 members in our group. We wanted to raise awareness about the importance of incorporating sustainability into our lifestyle in order to make the world a better place to live. The sustainability drive itself indicates the main idea of our project, it aims to make our surrounding more sustainable.
We started our planning on 1 December 2021 and it ended by 15 February 2022. Our CAS project was supervised by Utsav Oza sir.
On 20 December 2021, we all together presented about sustainable periods in front of grade 7 girls, as they were new to this topic and also they are in starting phase of their menstruation. Hence it is very important for them to know at this age. Menstruation can be linked to the theme of sustainability. As during a single femaleś menstrual life span, a single woman can generate up to 125 kg of non-biodegradable waste, leading to health problems and environmental risks. We also opened an Instagram page named ¨The Sustainability Drive” to reach a large audience, through a quicker platform. We posted about one sustainable tip every day through posters and videos.
I demonstrated a learner profile communicator as I communicated my ideas to the group, in front of the grade 7 while we presented and to teachers for approving our topic. I was principle as I cited all my work and had done academic honesty work.
L3- initiate and plan a CAS experience
To initiate our idea of sustainable periods we made a presentation, which we presented to our supervisor to get approved. To execute our plan of presentation in front of grade 7 we planned the date, time, and venue with our supervisor. We used canva to make the poster and logo of our Instagram page. All the group members decided to post day-wise, so we initiated a plan. We used the spreadsheet to plan everything.
L5-Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Working collaboratively helps to get our work easier and is an effective way. We develop social skills and we divided our work among us.
L6-engagement with issues of global significance
Our project is engaged with global significance as we targeted the destruction of the environment. There are very quick seasonal changes and global temperature. So we raised the voice with the usage of sustainability. We created awareness about sustainable tips, such as switching to metal straws instead of plastic, using cotton cloth instead of tissues, sustainable menstruation, sustainable kitchen tips, using copper bottles, etc. Every small action can create a huge difference! We tried to change people`s choices and make them sustainable to protect our environment.
L7-Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
We made our own posters about the sustainable tips to follow. We could easily get ready-made posters on google. But we chose to make the right ethical actions. And so we made our own posters from scratch using canva.
