The freshers party was a party which was organized by 12th graders for the 11th graders. They came into DP and this was a welcome for them by their seniors. AS their seniors we decided to make them start the final journey of school life with some exciting events.
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
This is a group project hence we all had to do tasks keeping in mind or strengths and weaknesses to make this event a success. I was good at planning activities and managing stuff. I can identify others strengths and weakness and allot them the work. Also doing all the work in an organized manner so that everything happenes in a flow.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The challenges we face in organizing this event was that we had very less time to plan. We had a lot of assignments of our own and had to manage this too. We had to make creative invites plan activities and give them a warm welcome. We had to schedule early inns to complete all the work.
LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
10 people made up the core group of our team that organised this activity. When the idea was put out, we were thrilled and started coming up with ideas for how to make this occasion memorable. The preparation was the most important component of this event, and it was our thorough attention to detail during the planning stage that allowed us to effectively execute the event. We started with a paper to organise our thoughts, plans, tasks, resources, etc. It required meticulous organisation because this was a two-day event to ensure that the attendees, supplies, and decorations were available when they were needed.
LO 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
The collection and production of waste are the worldwide issues taken into consideration here. We used old worksheets as envelopes for the invitations and recycled supplies from the school for the decorations in order to make this event sustainable and waste-free.
LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
High school’s final two years are tough and depressing. We organised this event to give our juniors a special start to their senior year. It was wonderful to witness our juniors enjoy themselves playing games, dancing with their friends, opening presents, and celebrating their first day without the pressure of submissions. I’m so glad we did it. I’ll always treasure this day and recall the feeling of success it gave me.
