The primary purpose of this activity was cleaning up trash as well as indisposed garbage in order to preserve marine life. After activities, many beachgoers leave their trash on the shores. Additionally, raw oil and other marine waste or pollutants drift from oceans or seas and build up on beaches. Hence cleaning up the waste was essential for sustainable life on the beach.

LO 3:

In order to organize myself, I planned out the time slot during which I’ll be going to the beach in advance. I am usually an organized person so making the plan was easy but initiating and implementing was a little difficult because at first, I was just going it for namesake due to my thinking. At first, I pondered why should I be the one to clean up someone else’s gross trash but after looking and the beach and situation I realized as a responsible citizen no matter who didn’t dispose of the trash but I should play my part and not contemplate on responsibility and roles of someone else.

LO 7:

There were no such ethical issues or an ethical code broken but the work done was the solution to the ethical issue. Leaving trash or garbage indisposed on public places such as the beach is unethical and hampers our ecosystem along with disturbing the balance of nature. These ethical issues affect me both directly and indirectly as throwing this trash is quite harmful to the surrounding. The surroundings where we live and are going to with upcoming generations, we are disturbing the ecosystem for the upcoming generations which we did not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrowed it from our descendants hence taking care of them is our responsibility and not a choice. This issue makes me feel concerned about the biosphere and it’s a condition that is going to be years later, not only concerned but it worries me that if the way we’re disposing of trash continues will there be even a beach left? After this activity, I realized I don’t have to clean the beach just because I want to include it in my service component of CAS but now I actually feel like cleaning the beach at least once 15 days and it’s one of my monthly goals now.

All in all beach cleaning helped me learn a lot about our surroundings and gave me the habit of always disposing of trash in the right way no matter while making me concerned less every single time I play my part right as a responsible citizen and makes me want to do more.
