Learning new Swimming styles and increasing endurance (Activity)

I’m very inclined to play· sports , swimming is one of my favorites sports to play· , I enjoy· swimming because It is a full-body workout and as swimming targets all parts of my body· I can easily maintain· my fitness and increase· my endurance· . Swimming is also a great· recreational activity· to relax· and decrease· stress· , swimming helps me to relieve· stress· that is given by studies and submissions .

L1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I was able to identify my strengths and weakness after 1 day of swimming. The strength I could identify in myself was that I could swim fast and my technique of swimming was also efficient and ensured that I didn’t get any injuries while swimming, The weakness I identified after swimming for a couple of days was that I didn’t have endurance, I couldn’t complete 1 Lap (50 Meters) I had to take frequent breaks while completing that lap. In order to improve my endurance, I started to swim on a daily basis so that I can consistently increase my endurance. My end goal was to complete 8 Laps (400 Meters) non-stop, as I started to swim more frequently I could feel my endurance increasing I measured my endurance by the time it took me to complete a Lap and the number of breaks it took me. By the end of 1 month, I was finally able to achieve my goal of swimming 8 Laps.

L2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

The main challenge I faced was learning new styles of swimming, Before starting swimming again I only knew Free-style swimming, But there are many others that I had to learn in order to increase my endurance, even more, some of them are: Backstroke, Breaststroke, Backstroke, and Butterfly. It was important for me to learn other styles as some swimming styles target special muscle groups and prevent injuries. learning new styles was quite a task for me because swimming in the wrong form could lead to injuries and I would have to stop swimming for a long time. But with the help of my friends and coaches available at the pool I was able to learn the styles safely and develop a new skill.

L3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience

In order to increase my endurance efficiently, I created a plan/schedule, Which helped me increase my endurance to a great extent, The reason I choose to make a plan and not just randomly swim was that a plan can help me identify which days I will go swimming to increase my endurance and which days I’ll go to train specific muscle group with the help of different swimming styles, for example: after training a muscle group that muscle group need to rest so it can rebuild itself, so the next day I would train another muscle group or swim to increase my Cardio, taking a day off was also important for me with the help of a plan I was able to identify at which day I need to take a rest. I used google spreadsheet to create a plan for the next 30 days.

L4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Just like any other sport, the results of swimming takes time to show, I was motivated to swim because of my knee injury, To improve my injury and make my knee strong I had to stay committed to swim. Eventually, I was able to recover from the injury and also improve my muscle strength and endurance. Swimming really helped me to build my muscle endurance, and helped me with my knee injury. I could relive my stress of studies because of swimming, this helped me stay more focused on study. I am looking to continue swimming again this winter break!
