Garba Fest was a one day students-led event where students and teachers came together to celebrate the festival of navratri. I was a part of the organizing committee for this event where I helped in planning and execution of the same.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
One of the most important aspects of carrying out a successful event is planning. OC members created a spreadsheet where all the updates were available. Hangout groups were created dedicated to the event which helped in coordination between team members as well as coordinating with our event supervisors. Initially we faced problems with the planning of the event but once we set our plan , initiating the plan became very easy. There were certain times when our planning was not up to the mark like we had not thoroughly planned the décor of the event and thus , initiating décor was difficult even with so many volunteers at hand. Planning this event helped me furnish my leadership skills as I took in charge of big responsibilities of the event. I believe that knowing how to plan events is an important skill as it will help me in future when I need to plan any other event and I can surely say that by planning this event, it has become easier for me to plan other events because I have become aware of my strengths and weaknesses through this.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
The event planning was in between a lot of other important tasks such as IB submissions , summatives and college applications. Because of so much work , it became difficult to stay committed towards the event. However, with hardwork , I was able to achieve this. To maintain productivity , OC members missed their lunch breaks and came for early-ins to plan for the event which shows the level of commitment and perseverance for this event.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Collaboration between the OC members was very important for the success of this event. Without this team , this event would not have been possible. It was necessary for us to work together as a team because there were so many things to be handled that one person could not have done it. For better productivity , the tasks were divided between members where I was responsible for managing the food stalls and transport routes. Similarly tasks like decor , managing the venue and more were assigned to other members. With proper team work , we helped each other in their tasks as well. Everybody gave their inputs and ideas and thus , this event was made a success.

Throughout this event , I also demonstrated certain learner profile attributes. I was a communicator as I shared my ideas with others and coordinated with many people to manage the logistics of the event. I was open-minded when I listened to the ideas of other members and took them into consideration. I was balanced between my academics and this even organizing and made sure that I do not compromise on any of these things. I was reflective as well because I took feedback from my supervisors on my work and reworked on them until it was perfect.

In all , this CAS project helped me develop a lot of skills and attributes which will definitely help me in future. This event was successful and I will carry a lot of memories of this event with me and I hope other participants enjoyed the garba fest as much as I did.
