A beach is a place of beauty, relaxation, and serenity. It’s where we go to unwind, soak up the sun, and listen to the calming sounds of the waves. Unfortunately, with the increasing number of visitors to our beaches and the prevalence of plastic and other debris, this peaceful sanctuary is under threat. As I walked along the shore today, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of trash that had washed up on the sand. Plastic bags, bottles, and straws were strewn about, leaving an unsightly mess and threatening marine life.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. We learned a lot about our weaknesses throughout the project and created a lot of skills and traits by identifying our strengths. but some things could have been done better like time management as we reached a bit late and then due to exhaustion we couldn’t gather the amount of waste that we wanted to. hence we improved in our next beach cleaning session.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. We took the challenge to gather 10 – 12 people to go for the beach cleaning on weekends. we targeted to take more people but we were unsuccessful to do so hence we only had 10 people in the end. so this is an area that could be improved and we could overcome.
LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. we planned everything from the beginning from the dates to making the poster to attract people to come and join us to clean the beaches of Surat then communication with all the members of the group and the people who are joining us was also supposed to be planned. the communication part was a bit weak from our side which could have been done better.
LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. We were committed to our goal of going to clean beaches every Sunday but then after 2 Sundays everyone was feeling bored we still stuck to our plan and managed to complete the CAS experience on time and with proper results. This was a great achievement as we learned how to be committed to some task and complete it with passion.
LO5 – was also catered to when I was doing this experience because it was initially difficult for me to work with others but slowly and steadily everything was done easily and the group project was successfully finished. It was easy for me to work with others. I had difficulties contacting the club members which was easily handled by me by allotting the workload to every group project member. It is important to work collaboratively with others because it helps us to get new ideas and support when we struggle somewhere.
To conclude it was a great experience to be able to contribute to a global cause. We enjoyed and learned a lot of good things from this experience/project and all the group members were devoted to the task completely it was completed within the deadline given and we developed a lot of skills too. in all, it was a good experience.
