Sketching and Painting

Drawing, sketching, and painting are something I have been doing since I was at a very young age. Initially it was compulsory as a subject. It was called visual arts. Other than school, there are many parents who focus on extra-curricular activities while upbringing their children and my parents are one of them so they enrolled me in an arts class. It’s not like I didn’t enjoy and was doing it forcefully, arts was always fun and still is but I always did it for fun. I never focused much on enhancing my skills as an artist. This experience was about me improving my artistic skills in terms of sketching and painting.

LO1: A strength by default was that I have artistic parents and my mother is excellent when it comes to painting. My father is more of a sketch artist. So having both of them under the same roof was an advantage. I could ask for their help whenever I needed it.

LO2: Doing things solely out of passion and for having fun is easy but when it comes to perfecting a form of art, it’s not a cakewalk. Most kids indulge in painting or sketching somehow at some point of time, either because of their school or interest. I was one of them. Was always interested but only used to do it to find a smile on my face. But then I wanted to learn the skills that are needed to make a good artwork. The lack of practice lead me to failed results, my paintings and sketches didn’t turn out to be that well in the beginning. Starting over from scratch was challenging. I couldn’t draw definite figures or compositions

LO5: Acquiring a good understanding of the palette was crucial for the painting project I was working on. Different shades can make a portrait look more lifelike. Tints are created by mixing a color with white to make it lighter, such as when black is mixed with white to form grey. On the other hand, darker shades are created by mixing a color with black. Improving my knowledge of the colour palette can enhance the visual impact of my paintings, making them appear more realistic and visually appealing.

LO7: When creating my art, I was aware of the significance of personal and cultural expression. In art, expression is often conveyed without words and is used as a means of communication. To avoid causing any controversy or conflict, I made sure that my artwork was neutral and did not offend any particular group or individual.
