Overview :

In this CAS experience I volunteered at a workshop named crumple, which was a series of workshops held and organized by my classmates. In this workshop we were taught how to make handmade paper with already used paper helping our environment by recycling used paper.

I always knew that harming the environment was gonna come around today or tomorrow but I never took some serious steps towards it, even if it is very important to us I never really worked towards it. After I learnt that a workshook like this was planned I thought I could contribute to a better environment by joining it. I had to commit myself as the workshop was held before school and I had to wake up at 6am everyday so that I could attend the workshop.

I wasn’t very attentive in the first few sessions which made me confused as I did not hear the important steps that had to be done to recycle the used paper, but as there were more volunteers and we were grouped together, we helped each other out and solved each other problem, being more efficient and solving more problems.

More than 150 million trees are cut down to make paper. With this in mind, I thought this workshop, even a small step, will be something towards a better future. We engaged with the sustainable development goal of responsible production and consumption of goods. As wood is a very valuable resource and if there is a way or reusing it will help in a better future.
