I have been learning keyboard from 5-6 years so I know how to play it well. But I have never got the opportunity to explore the jazz genre in music. So as a part of my CAS experience, I want to learn a new jazz song on keyboard called ‘Take 5’ by Dave Brubeck.

LO 1 : As said before, I have been playing keyboard since 5-6 years so playing keyboard is my strength. However, as i have not explored the jazz genre, it is a weakness for me so I want to work upon it in this CAS experience. This way I will be able to develop a new skill in this CAS experience.

LO 2 : Learning this song was very challenging for me. The reason behind this is that firstly this a song from a new genre. Secondly, this song has a time signature of 5/4. Playing songs on this time signature is very difficult. And lastly, the synchronisation of left hand is very difficult. I had to dedicate much time to perfect this song as it was very challenging for me.

LO 4 : I had to show much commitment and perseverance during this experience as it was a very difficult song to learn. I was getting frustrated many times in between as I was not able to synchronise my left and right hand. But with much practice, perseverance and commitment, I was able to do learn this song eventually.

All in all, I was able to learn about the jazz genre by learning the song ‘Take 5.’ I was also able to improve my synchronisation skills of left and right hand by learning this song on keyboard.
