LO’s : (Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance, Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively)

Hackathon is a 24 to 48-hour long event wherein we take part in teams and have to develop an app or a website that solves the problem given to us. Last October I took part in a Hackathon called Garuda Hacks which was hosted by a team of individuals from Indonesia and we had to solve any issue that was pertaining to connectivity. We were a team of 3 and we came up with the idea of developing a platform wherein entrepreneurs could pitch their idea on our platform and other investors could comment to give feedback on their idea. We had thought that something like this was lacking and saw it as a gap in the market. As our idea got approved we started working on the website itself, developing the website was a very difficult task since it required a lot of backend stuff and I was in charge of it.

LO 6 (Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance) : Developing countries also have a lot of small entrepreneurs but they do not have a platform or do not have access to high-network individuals who could help them work on their business idea. Our idea solved this issue and would hopefully help those small entreprenaurs.

LO 5 (Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively) : Since we were working in a team of communication and this helped me improve my collaborative skills, we were developing a website that required us e to constantly check on it whether or not there was a bug or what is going wrong. We have to solve all problems together which again helped me improve problem solving skills. Since we are a team I identified that working in a team allows us to work faster and more effieciently.
