Badminton

I was always interested in playing badminton as a physical sport and to give it a try I started learning badminton from some of the professional players. Being a member of Amazia club I had access to a fully equipped badminton court. But due to the lockdown i was struck at home and couldn’t continue my practice and due to which my skill got poor enough that after lockdown i had to start from the beginning.

Learning Outcomes:

LO1:

Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

In my initial days,it was very hard for me to stay consistent in my badminton training as after a whole day of school I would get exhausted and I wouldn’t feel like going for it. It took me a week or two to recognise my strengths and the area where I have to work upon. As I only went for 10-15 days before covid therefore I was not trained enough to start with difficult shots.I had a good stamina since the first day so, it helped me to play extensively and i can play for a longer time whereas i was very bad at some shots like toss, drop, smash and backhand.

LO2:

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The most challenging part for me was to stay energetic after a hectic day at school. After school I started to take a cold bath even in winter which helped me to stay energetic and also boosted my strength.Another challenge for me was to learn a variety of shots and stay aware about my shot selection during my matches. To improve it I created a plan for these four shots, I started practicing any two shots for 15 mins on alternate days and the player whom I played with also helped me in my practice.  They would teach me some of the techniques that they have used to strengthen these shots. After the training of 2 months I was able to compete with tem and I also developed the skills of learning badminton shots and using them in the game.

LO4:

Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experience.

It was very important to maintain commitment and perseverance in this experience.During my initial days i was not going regularly for my badminton training as i used to get exhausted due to my conjusting schedule but as the time passed i trained myself in that manner that i can tackle my tiredness and I started going to the practice regularly. After completing my training , now i am able to compete with some of the good players i know and as well as I have learnt some of the difficult shots in badminton.
